Collection and storing of meteorological data is crucial to understanding weather patterns and predicting weather and climate, benefiting areas such as agriculture and disaster prevention. In Espírito Santo, initiatives that began in the 1920s culminated in the installation of conventional meteorological stations and, from 2005 onwards, in the implementation of automatic equipment, significantly improving data collection. The Espírito Santo Data Acquisition and Processing System (SATDES) project, developed in partnership with several institutions, centralizes raw data from conventional, automatic and fluviometric meteorological stations, providing meteorological and climate information in real time. Quality control tests ensure data accuracy, while SATDES continues to evolve to offer a variety of products. These initiatives reflect SATDES’ commitment to providing accurate and accessible information, highlighting it as a reliable source for decision-making in the state of Espírito Santo.
